Indications of Askorel 100 ml Syrup
A cough suppressant called butamirate citrate is used to treat dry (non-productive) cough. Your current dry cough may be brought on by a recent viral infection. Additionally, butamirate citrate is used to calm patients' coughs during and after bronchoscopies and surgical procedures. It is effective for treating all acute coughs, including those brought on by tracheitis, laryngitis, and bronchitis, as well as whooping cough and other acute lower respiratory tract infections.
Pharmacology of Askorel 100 ml Syrup
By directly influencing the cough area in the brain, butamirate citrate reduces coughing. Butamirate Citrate is a non-sedating, non-toxic substance that does not share any chemical or pharmacological similarities with opium alkaloids. Butamirate citrate is quickly and completely absorbed following oral therapy. In nine hours, the sustained-release medication reaches its peak concentration. With a 13-hour plasma half-life, this is very protein-bound. The active metabolites of butamirate citrate also have antitussive qualities.

Side Effects of Askorel 100 ml Syrup
Butamirate Citrate has a high tolerance. In a few rare cases, adverse responses such as dermatitis, nausea, diarrhea, and vertigo have been reported, but they have all resolved once the dose was reduced or the medication was stopped.
Pregnancy & Lactation
During the first trimester of pregnancy, butamirate Citrate should be avoided. It can be taken for the rest of the pregnancy if a doctor recommends it, but only with caution. In the absence of evidence on active ingredient removal in breast milk, the advantages of Butamirate Citrate administration during breastfeeding should be carefully balanced against the dangers, as a general rule.
Precautions & Warnings
Because Butamirate Citrate inhibits the cough reflex, it should not be used in conjunction with expectorants, as this may cause mucus retention in the airways, increasing the risk of bronchospasm and respiratory infections. A doctor should be seen if the cough lasts longer than 7 days (or more than 3 days in children under the age of 12).
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C and away from light and moisture. All medications should be kept out of the reach of youngsters.
